I am Colleen, the maker behind Black Heart of Glass. I create stained glass in my home in Portland, Oregon.

My first stained glass piece was a panel modeled after the famous ceiling in the Italian horror masterpiece Suspiria. I was instantly in love with the craft, and still create pieces to honor my favorite horror films to this day.

As I continue to create and explore stained glass art, I most enjoy incorporating unexpected materials into pieces to transform them into functional items and/or art that transports you to a magical place. Lichens foraged during a forest adventure, sconces recovered from a dusty antique shop, and lace trimmed from an old dress have all sparked inspiration and found their way into my creations.

My hope is that my work may provide you with a small bit of the escapism I am lucky to feel when working with stained glass.
